OUR STORY
KING’S RIVER CONVENT
Set in the heart of Ballingarry, King’s River Convent is a historic 1871 convent being brought to life for a new generation — a place for music, creativity, community and memorable experiences.
A HISTORIC PLACE, REIMAGINED
BUILT IN 1871. REIMAGINED FOR TODAY.
Built in 1871, by the Presentation Sisters, King’s River Convent has long been part of the fabric of Ballingarry. Today, the historic property is being carefully renovated and given a new purpose, with its distinctive buildings and spaces opening up for the community to enjoy once again.
At its heart is An Séipéal, the convent chapel originally constructed in 1916. Now transformed into a fully equipped performance venue with professional sound and lighting, it provides an intimate setting for live music, theatre, recitals, celebrations and special events, with seating for up to 200 guests.
MORE THAN A PERFORMANCE VENUE
A PLACE TO CREATE, CONNECT & GATHER
The vision for King’s River Convent extends well beyond the stage.
The wider grounds and buildings provide opportunities for creative workshops, classes, wellness activities and community gatherings. From woodwork, painting and sewing to yoga and pilates, the aim is to create spaces that people can use, enjoy and make their own
The former girls’ primary school is already home to Old School House Living, where Aileen has welcomed visitors since 2022 with home furnishings, antiques, gifts and locally roasted coffee, while also hosting a monthly book club.
A NEW CHAPTER
THE STORY CONTINUES
King’s River Convent is continuing to evolve, with plans for an ever-growing programme of music, performances, community events and activities.
The ambition is simple: to preserve the character of this remarkable historic place while creating somewhere welcoming, useful and enjoyable — a destination where people can come together, discover something new and create lasting memories.
